Dominican University Concert Series

10/17/10 -

Dominican University of California's Guest Concert Series begins on Oct. 17 with the Ariel Ensemble, the resident ensemble of the Chamber Music Society of Sacramento. Performances also will include San Francisco Symphony musicians, Philharmonia Baroque and the St. Lawrence String Quartet. The performances are part of the Expression series sponsored by the department of music and performing arts at Dominican. All Sunday afternoon concerts start at 3 p.m. at Angelico Hall.

The Ariel Ensemble is comprised of William Barbini, Kineko Okumura and Paul Ehrlich on violin, Victoria Ehrlich on cello and clarinetist Patricia Shands.

On November 7, the popular Tilden Trio, an ensemble-in-residence at Dominican, will perform again at Angelico Hall. The trio consists of Juilliard School classmates Sarn Oliver (violin) , who is the first violinist in the San Francisco Symphony, and associate principal San Francisco Symphony cellist Peter Wyrick and pianist June Choi Oh, a faculty member at Dominican and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Tilden Trio quickly became a sought-after ensemble since forming in 2004 after collaborating for decades in various ensembles settings, starting in the pre-college days.

Subscription season tickets for the series are $72 for general admission and $60 for seniors, music teachers and students, and $40 for youth. They can be purchased in advance through Dominican's Web site at www.dominican.edu/events. Subscription single-event tickets are $18 for general, $15 discount and $10 youth and can be purchased at the door prior to each performance. Admission is free for Dominican faculty, staff and students.

Angelico Hall opens 30 minutes prior to each performance. Parking is free at Conlan Center at the intersection of Grand and Acacia avenues in San Rafael. For more information, contact June Choi Oh at 257-0128 or e-mail her at joh@dominican.com.
